The world-class facilities at South Shields Marine School, based at South Tyneside College attracts students from global shipping companies.

Getting here, there or anywhere

Newcastle International AirportSouth Tyneside is in the heart of North East England, in the centre of the region with the North Sea to East and the River Tyne to the North. 

Within a 30 minute drive you can be in neighbouring cities of Sunderland, Newcastle, Gateshead or Durham - a little further and you will be in rolling hills and countryside of Northumberland. 

For national and international travel from here, trains from Newcastle will have you in London in less than 3 hours.

Daily flights also operate to London Heathrow, Amsterdam Schipol, Paris and Dubai - if the US is your destination, choose from six flights a week to Newark, New York City, all from Newcastle International Airport.
